About the Congress
Breda University of Applied Sciences is excited to host the 18th World Leisure Congress.
The Congress brings together leisure professionals from all around the world, academia, government, and industry to promote informative, stimulating, and challenging discussions on the latest issues in leisure.
Breda University of Applied Sciences fully embraces the view that leisure should be for the benefit of all human beings. Therefore, we have chosen the WLO 2025 conference theme in the Netherlands “Leisure for a Better Society”. We define three different vantage points that give our theme focus and relevance: a social perspective, an economic perspective, and a sustainability perspective. These three perspectives serve as binding elements and as an organising principle throughout the congress programme.
Prof. Bastiaansen Invites You to WLC 2025
We are delighted to share a special invitation from Prof. Dr. Marcel Bastiaansen, a leading figure in the field of leisure and tourism studies, a long-term member of WLO’s Board of Directors and a key part of WLC 2025’s Organising Committee. He co-founded and directs the Experience Lab at Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUas) – a cutting-edge facility that uses neuroscientific tools to conduct pioneering research into the impact of emotions in leisure and tourism experiences on well-being and quality of life.
DISCOVER BREDA
Breda is a charming city in the south of the Netherlands, vibrant, and historical. Apart from century-old buildings, it contains loads of hip, fun, and affordable food outlets and lifestyle spots. The small scale of the city suits the educational vision of Breda University of Applied Sciences. It makes both the city and its residents easily accessible.
